Who we are

Deaf Child Worldwide is the only UK-based international development agency dedicated to enabling deaf children to overcome poverty and isolation. Deaf children are more likely to come from poor families and grow up to be poor adults.
We work with partners in the countries where need is greatest throughout the world and we are the international development agency of the National Deaf Children's Society in the UK.
Why we exist
There are around 12 million deaf children in the developing world – of these, a staggering 98% will never go to school.
As a result many deaf children are:
- hidden away from society
- vulnerable to abuse and exploitation
- condemned to a life of isolation and silence
- destined to be the poorest of the poor.
We believe that this is wrong.
We believe that this has to change.
We believe, that together, we can change it.
- We fight for deaf children’s rights around the world.
- We exist to end the isolation and exclusion deaf children experience.
- We take a stand against unfair laws, prejudice and superstition.
- We transform the lives of deaf children through education.
